The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard Brings Families and Community Resources Together at Family DayCommunity event connected Philadelphia residents with health screenings, behavioral wellness services, employment resources, family activities, and more
PHILADELPHIA — [September 12, 2026] — The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard, also known as Be Well, hosted individuals, families, community partners and service providers to Family Day, a community-centered event on Saturday, September 12 at their Center located at 801 W. Girard Avenue in Philadelphia.
The day-long event provided Philadelphia residents with an engaging and welcoming opportunity to connect with essential health, wellness, recovery, employment and family-support resources.
“Family Day reflects our commitment to meeting people where they are and connecting them with the health, wellness, recovery and employment resources they need to thrive,” said, Xavier Bancroft, President and CEO of the Center. “We are proud to bring families, community partners, and service providers together while helping ensure that individuals across Philadelphia—especially those in underserved communities—have greater access to care, support, and opportunity.”
Throughout the event, attendees received health information and screenings, explored job-readiness and vocational-training opportunities, and connected with organizations offering behavioral health and community services.
Family Day also featured activities and entertainment for all ages, including children’s activities, face painting, games, a dunk tank, and music. Guests enjoyed lunch, water ice, pretzels, candy, coffee, donuts, and other refreshments.
The event highlighted the importance of accessible behavioral health resources, substance use disorder treatment and recovery services, mental health and psychiatric care, family and community support, health education, screenings, and employment and vocational opportunities.
By bringing these services together in one location, The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard helped make valuable resources more visible and accessible, particularly for communities that have historically faced barriers to care and support.
Sponsor and participating organizations included: CTC Care, the Philadelphia Department of Health, Penn Medicine, the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), Self Inc., Heed Healthcare, Consumer Satisfaction Team, Fab Youth Philly, Great West Powelton Steppers & Drum Squad, and Unity Recovery.
“We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers whose time, energy and enthusiasm helped make Family Day possible,” added Bancroft. “Their dedication created a welcoming and memorable experience for our families and reflects the spirit of care and community at the heart of Be Well.”
